Marabelle Heng - Podiatrist

Marabelle Heng

Marabelle Heng (MSc, B.Pod, B.Sc) is a podiatrist with more than 15 years’ experience. Marabelle was first introduced to podiatry after sustaining toenail trauma from ballet. She has an innate understanding of foot biomechanics from years of dance and going on-pointe. Her clinical sub-specialisations are biomechanics and nail surgery. Marabelle was the lead (principal) podiatrist at the Singapore General Hospital for biomechanics and nail surgery, from 2016 to 2022.

During that time, she managed countless flat feet and bunions in collaboration with orthopaedic surgeons, among whom she built strong relationships and a solid reputation. She also treated dystrophic nails in patients undergoing chemotherapy. In 2013, Marabelle pursued a masters by research on the topic of posterior tibial tendon dysfunction and hypermobility.

She remains an active researcher today and lectures at the University of Western Australia. Marabelle believes that the best healthcare outcomes stem from respectful collaboration between clinicians and patients. She published a book chapter on collaborative communication and conducts workshops to train other clinicians. As a proponent of natural and holistic health, Marabelle believes in the body’s ability to heal with the support of adjunct therapies such as dry needling and functional rehab. Having suffered a plantar plate tear herself and hoping for non-surgical intervention, she found success in the combination of dry needling, short-term orthotics, and barefoot exercise. She loves to help those looking for a good shot at non-surgical interventions for their foot problems. As a young mum herself, she has a special interest in paediatric podiatry. Marabelle is based at our East Fremantle clinic.
