David Handojo - Podiatrist

David Handojo

David obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the University of Western Australia in 2019, after completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in physiology in 2016 at the same university. He has been working as a full-time podiatrist since the start of 2020 but has had experience in both private and hospital settings during his studies.

David enjoys all aspects of podiatry but has a particular interest in biomechanics, sports-related injuries, and other musculoskeletal injuries. This includes rehabilitation and management of ankle sprains, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciopathy, hip pain, and knee pain. For these, he can prescribe appropriate exercises to gradually load and strengthen affected tendons, strengthen weak muscles, and stretch tight muscles.

In addition to this, he likes to use adjunct therapies such as manual therapy and dry needling to assist with rehabilitation. Other treatments that David provides include orthotic therapy, ankle mobilisations, intrinsic foot muscle strengthening, conservative and surgical ingrown toenail management, and diabetic foot management.

David has also had training in the use of microwave therapy for the treatment of verruca and extracorporeal shockwave therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Since graduating, David has furthered his clinical skills through regular professional development sessions and seminars covering various aspects of podiatric treatment. These include learning about options for surgical management of podiatric conditions, updates on orthotic prescriptions, ACL rehabilitation, barefoot strengthening, and keeping up to date on major athletic footwear brands.

In his spare time, David loves to dance, currently training in both popping and choreography. His current dance goals are to regularly compete in street dance/popping battles and to someday compete in a national dance competition as a part of the crew he trains with. Apart from dance, David also loves singing, playing guitar, drawing, travelling, and hanging out with friends.

David always aims to provide a high quality of care to all patients, ensuring that they are properly looked after in the long term. He believes in the importance of ensuring that patients get as much as possible out of their appointments and are properly educated to be able to follow through with their treatment plan after they leave the clinic.

David also loves learning about people and having good chats with patients so that they feel comfortable and welcome. He hopes to resolve your problems and get you back on your feet as fast as possible!
